Posts from 10/18 & 10/20
Basically, I felt as though I did not know what was actually expected of us. And, I know I am not the only one because I had fellow classmates and peers from the TR class that called me asking me questions as to what was expected from this assignment.
I chose to do this topic because Health Education required a similar project, and I decided to double dip!
While this is probably not the best issue to address to the students I plan to teach (inmates), it is good for elementary students. With this lesson, I would also do the flouride experiment where the students are able to see the bacteria in their mouth.
Presentation
ISTE NETS: 2. c.
WHY? I chose ISTE NETS T 2. c. because this is the standard that allows the teacher to present material in a different format for different learning styles. A powerpoint presentation can provide students with a break from the textbook and chalkboard. It also provides visual learners with a more in depth look into the subject, as well as some possible images to reinforce the ideas.

Google Maps/Class 10/8
After going into the document that Dr. Pierce sent titled "poop," I went into the document and added my address to the list. All of my other classmates did the same. We were to copy and paste the newly added addresses to Geobatch.com in order to create our very own map. Next, we were also to embed the map here on our blog. I have not yet done this because of some complications, hoping to work the kinks out today.

ISTE T: 2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS•S. Teachers:
a. design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.
Why?: I chose this standard because this is an inventive way to design & develop maps that students can read, utilize, and assess for all kinds of different assignments. The maps can be personalized or creatively invented for attention holders. Even games can be played from these maps, such as scavenger hunts!

Diigo
Diigo is kind of like Facebook in the sense that it is a group, and as a group we can share and comments inside of Diigo.
Tags allows for organization, easy access, and a convenient way of allowing others to easily review your bookmarks and all that they entail.

Creating a Site
And, THIS is my own personal site.
We uploaded our resume and created our calendar. I chose to display mine under the Homepage, and the title of my site is " Mrs. Hayes' Stuff."
Under ISTE T:
3. Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. Teachers:
c.communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital-age media and formats.
Why does this apply?: Having a site that students and parents can visit is an excellent way to communicate outside of the classroom. Using this tool, I would be able to post the day's activities, homework, upcoming events, and things that students can be doing to progress or even their personal grades. This allows for 24/7 access, which is a mjor convenience for everyone involved.
